msc club-pumpkin patch cupcakes!

i bought the martha stewart cupcake recipe book the day it was released...i mean, went out on my lunch break and paid full price for it at barnes and noble because i didn't want to wait for it to ship through amazon :) so, when i found out there was a group baking and blogging their way through the book, i couldn't wait to join! the first recipe (since i was accepted into the group) is for the pumpkin patch cupcakes. i had made these cupcakes the week before i was accepted into the club for a harvest fair, they were really yummy. i decided to make them again for my last summer farmers' market, and they were a hit there as well.
i followed martha's recipe as written, except i added mini chocolate chips...for some reason pumpkin chocolate chip sounds yummier than plain ol' pumpkin.
i really love the way these cupcakes rise up high!
this is the finished product. i didn't make the little marzipan pumpkins since i was making them for the farmers' market and didn't have time to make 54, but these little candy pumpkins worked out well. plus, i didn't make the cream cheese frosting as indicated in the recipe, i made a pumpkin pie spiced buttercream. it was delicious!
the recipe says that you'll get 32 cupcakes, but i halved it and got 54 mini cupcakes (since mini is how i roll :)

  3. Pumpkin pie spiced butter cream! Yummy. That sounds so good with the chocolate chip pumpkin combo. I want one of yours. I hope they were a hit at the farmers' market. Thanks for baking along with me this month.

  4. Having actually eaten one of them, I can attest that the cupcakes were delicious! The chocolate chips were a brilliant addition, and your frosting was yummy, as well. I'm looking forward to trying one (or two, or three) each of whatever you make for the craft fair this weekend. I've never had a My Little Cupcake that I didn't love...

  5. Mmmmm! The addition of chocolate chips does sound good. The buttercream seems like it would be a nice compliment to the cupcake. I thought about doing the candy pumpkins too, but I didn't want to have to go out and buy them. Great job!

  6. I usually make minis too, but I thought my marzipan pumpkins would be too big for minis so I went for full size. I also usually add chocolate to everything and had to hold myself back from doing it this time. Ha ha. Your frosting sounds delicious!!
